Z PINSON HOPGOOD (b. 1998) is a multidisciplinary artist based in Dallas, Texas, working across electro-acoustic sound, performance, mixed-media sculpture, film, and photography. Their practice is a form of self-definition through documentary—often improvised, diaristic, and intentionally ephemeral—translating lived experience from rural South Dallas while testing what each medium can preserve, distort, or reveal. Rooted in film and anthropology, Hopgood’s moving-image work leans cinéma vérité–adjacent and meditative, focusing on color, texture, and in-camera artifacts to create hypnagogic windows into a surreal Americana where documentation blurs into dream.
